Systech expands for-hire vehicle inspection system in New York
Systech International, LLC has expanded the for-hire inspection program in New York City to include testing of all limousines addition to testing medallion taxis, thus significantly increasing the number of for-hire vehicles subject to inspection. The New York Taxi and Limousine Commission (NYTLC) awarded a contract amendment to Systech in November 2009 that includes an upgrade to the Systech inspection software application and added service and maintenance responsibilities.
Systech designed and installed the NYTLC Safety and Emissions Inspection Lane system in 2004 and has maintained and enhanced it since. The system consists of multiple four-position test lanes, front gate, and hack site positions. Each lane is equipped to perform a fully integrated safety inspection that includes brake tester, headlight tester, front-end shaker plate, side slip/suspension tester, and taxi meter tester. The safety and emissions inspection lanes are networked with Systech’s central host computer system known as the Vehicle Inspection Database (VID). The VID provides for real-time interface with CAMIS, the NYC vehicle database, for automated program enforcement.
“We are grateful that the New York Taxi and Limousine Commission continues to have confidence in Systech’s for-hire vehicle inspection system,” said Lothar Geilen, CEO of Systech. “This contract amendment is evidence of the exemplary business relationship we have maintained with the NYTLC. We remain fully committed to supporting the advanced technology Systech developed for the City and ensuring continued uninterrupted service to the NYTLC inspection facility.”
The contract amendment is valued at $700,000 over a two year period and is in addition to the existing contract Systech has with the NYTLC.
