VIN Kernel™ reduces inspection exceptions
Going beyond typical table-based inspection rule configuration, Opus Inspection has developed a special tool called the VIN Kernel™, shown below. This tool implements VIN-Based OBD Exception Rules. By using one (or more) character(s) of the VIN combined with model year and vehicle make, this mechanism links a vehicle to a specific test type. Incorporating VIN components addresses concerns (such as potential rule consistency collisions) that could occur when using only year, make, and model name as a qualifying identifier to enable inspection exceptions.
