Buenos Aires, Argentina
On May 29, 2018, Opus acquired two vehicle inspection companies in Buenos Aires. VTV Norte has successfully operated a concession for 20 years with five vehicle inspection stations in the province of Buenos Aires, inspecting 330,000 vehicles a year. VTV Metro operates two inspection stations in the city of Buenos Aires. In 2017, the first calendar year of its operation, VTV Metro inspected 145,000 vehicles.
The government of Cordoba assigned its three concessions for vehicle inspection in Cordoba to Opus’ Argentinian subsidiary, Opus Inspection SA. Starting March 1, 2017, Opus performs vehicle inspections mandated for all vehicles registered in Cordoba. The concessions include the operation of 18 inspection lanes in three government owned inspection stations. Opus will upgrade existing technology in inspection stations with its advanced data management system and vehicle inspection software. The City of Cordoba is committed to enforce the vehicle inspection mandate, in partnership with Opus by utilizing Opus’ proprietary RFID technology.
Cordoba is Argentina’s second largest city by population, and has a fleet of well over 500,000 vehicles. The operation in Cordoba continues Opus’ business growth in Latin America, adding to vehicle inspection programs in Chile and Peru.
