EPA Emission Recall
The EPA may determine that a substantial number of vehicles in a class or category do not meet required emission standards. Provided these vehicles are properly maintained and used by the owners, the EPA can require the vehicle manufacturer to recall and fix the affected vehicles to achieve emission reductions. NHTSA Safety Recall

The campaigns include motor vehicle products which experienced a safety-related defect or did not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards.
